The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni is the first book of the Prison Healer series. Kiva, the main character, has been imprisoned in Zalindov for 10 years. While there, she became the prison healer, where she was part of the intake team for new prisoners. Although a prisoner herself, her position makes her an outcast amongst the other prisoners. That is, until she helps heal the Rebel Queen who was captured to be put on trial. The Rebel Queen has been assigned the worst trial of all, the Trial by Ordeal. Kiva decided to take the Rebel Queen’s place in the trial to win both of their freedom from Zalindov.

I think this book was very enjoyable. I liked the characters and the plot. I especially loved the twist at the end! I am hoping to read The Gilded Cage soon.
