A Column of Fire by Ken Follett

5.0

“A Column of Fire” is the epic third book in the Kingsbridge series. Unlike the first two books, which center mainly on the trials of people in a more localized area, this book follows the people of Kingsbridge all over Europe as they battle for religious tolerance, Catholicism or Protestantism under various monarchs. I felt that there was more action in this book, but without sacrificing any of the romance or intrigue seen in “Pillars of the Earth” or “World Without End”. And again, as I say, I’m a horrible book critic because I love every book that I read, but this series is a must read for any book lover. Ken Follett takes your existing knowledge of history and transforms it with his first-person storytelling and meticulous research and detail, I am floored once again.
