Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar

I feel like this story should have been a comic instead. The simplicity of the plot made it rather flat on its own, and I believe that kind of writing is more suited for a graphic novel rather than a full-length book; it would have been way more pleasing (moreover drawings of Ishu and Hani with the cover's adorable style? I feel robbed.)

Even if the plot and the characters were pretty simple, social issues and mental health were discussed with great care. This novel is definitely a great way to discuss it with a younger audience (11-13).

What disappointed me a bit was the lack of chemistry between the two main characters; maybe it was the writing, but I did not feel the "spark", it just kind of happened.

All that to say that I am not the right audience for it anymore, but I had fun reading it, I'd gladly recommend it to middle schoolers / kids who are struggling with the same issues as Ishu and Hani.
