This is an epic fantasy stand alone novel that follows Misaki, a vigilante turned mother and housewife. It tackles themes of motherhood, identity, duty, honor, and the human cost of war. This book is packed with emotion and truly shows its strength in the character work. The heart breaking climax of the book sits just past the midway point after a very extended battle scene, and then the reader experiences the aftermath, rebuilding, and healing that must occur. The writing was absolutely stunning and I really enjoyed the magic system too!
