Superman for All Seasons
by Jeph Loeb
So, I have always loved Superman and I'm at a point where I want to delve deep into the Superman theology and read all I can. Problem is, it's really hard to figure out where to start. Ya, Wiki will tell you what order stuff has been written, but the beginning comics of Superman are pretty cheesy. I wanted to see if there was somewhere else I could start. I came across a website and it recommended this series as one of the first to read. So here we go.
It's a four-issue story that talks about Clark's move from Smalltown into Metropolis and ultimately becoming Superman. It's a great story line and does a great job of showing that Superman does indeed have weaknesses. The illustration wasn't exactly how I pictured these characters (hence 4 instead of 5 stars), but it wasn't badly done. Like I said, I really liked the storyline. If you're looking for a long-running story with multiple arcs, this isn't what you want, but if you're wanting insight into Superman (like what I wanted), it is something to have in your reading repertoire.
