Xenakis's Convenient Bride by Dani Collins

5.0

This M&B ‘Trilogy’ consists of the following books:

1. Di Marcello’s Secret Son by Rachael Thomas
2. Xenakis’s Convenient Bride by Dani Collins
3. Salazar’s One-Night Heir by Jennifer Hayward

But can this be called a trilogy? Not really, if you go by the very detailed prologues appearing in all three of the books about four ‘as thick as thieves’ friends. At the recurring mention of the fourth friend, I did a quick search, and found out that the fourth friend, or should I say the first one, has a book of his own, which should ideally have been at the top of the ‘The Secret Billionaires Series’ (even if he was not a secret billionaire, the book should find a mention with the other three.)

And I can’t review the above-mentioned book as I failed to find it on Amazon India, ‘the book’ being:

The Secret Billionaire’s Mistress by Dani Collins (this is where it all starts!)
(Edit: The link mentioned on [b:The Secret Billionaire's Mistress|35128927|The Secret Billionaire's Mistress|Dani Collins|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|56448963] takes us to the book which is a part of Harlequin's Online Reads - a 30 minute read, consisting of three chapters, this one; which, silly me, didn't see earlier, and only found out when the author pointed me in the right direction. Though this book was written after the Trilogy, I would recommend everyone to read it before starting the trilogy as it does make much more sense, and brings out the flavor of the characters. I wish I had.)

This series is about four friends – Sebastien Atkinson, Antonio Di Marcello, Stavros Xenakis, and Alejandro Salazar – who engage in extreme sports to keep their mind and body engaged. The trilogy is about fulfilling Sebastien’s challenge – by the Italian tycoon, Greek magnate, and Belgian tycoon, respectively – about going for two weeks without their billionaire fortune. How they go about their challenges and lead their lives post-the-challenge is what forms the rest of their stories.

What I loved about this trilogy was the fresh approach, the plot twists, and the inherent bond between the four friends.

This is the best of the lot – a compassionate story. In fact, it’s so good that you can make a movie on this! Here is why I’m saying this:

Aha! A sexy scooter ride, now that’s a new one! Loved the humorous exchange between Edward (the male protagonist’s grandfather) and Stavros. Also, loved how the author touched upon the feeling of being an immigrant – how some embrace it, while others rebel against it, such a heartfelt tale.

I almost cried while reading about Calli’s past. And if it makes me a sadist reader, then yes, I immensely enjoyed reading their first fight!

“Steve! Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve!” (gurgling with laughter here)
