A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher
4.5
adventurous dark emotional tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes

I had a great time with this book, I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. The magical horror (the obedience curse and everything Cordelia's mother does with her magic) combines with the ordinary horror (the child abuse and the fact that Cordelia's mother would absolutely murder people even if she didn't have magic) works so perfectly, and I really loved how the plot itself shook down with
a group of ordinary people trying to deal with a sorceress and her magical not-horse
. The way they all worked together, the solution to the mystery and how it was all down to
Cordelia and how she understood magic in the end
. The ghost was a great touch too.

Just really fun. I must get to more T. Kingfisher books, they've always been delightful.
