Right at the end of a book is NOT a great time to disciver this is book 1 in a series. That's what I get for going into a book blind aside from 'There's a Poisoner who tries to kill him (a vampire) and fails but he falls in love with her'. That sentence alone had me so intrigued I just had to read it. And sure, 60% of the book is their cat and mouse game where she tries to kill him and he tries to get into her pants. And then a little over halfway they make a deal where she gets to study his poison/blood which is the least self-preservation act a creature can do but whatever, it got him in her pants I guess? I did like their banter.
I did not care for the last 20% or so, where she gets kidnapped and abused and Silas does nothing? And I do not get how she escaped that Den. Like one moment she poisons Luka and the other she's on a boat? What happened inbetween? I don't know if I'm gonna read the next books in this series... If it weren't for the narrators (who were absolutely AMAZING) I think I might've soft DNF'ed.
