I'd never read this before or seen the film so I had no idea what it was about - although the SS insignia on the cover of my copy was a hint. It's an extremely tense read and quite fascinating, it's weird to remember how loads of the post-war 'ex-Nazis' were... not that old when I was born. (I knew this obviously, but still odd.) Anyway there's a surprising amount of driving in this (!) and also it reminds you how 'men' and 'women' were written in spy thrillers of the sixties and seventies.
