My Mechanical Romance
by Alexene Farol Follmuth
Y'know, I probably would've finished this the day I started it--Olivie/Alexene's writing is just so compulsively readable to me--but I entered a bit of a stall in my reading sprint, I guess. I really pushed myself to pick this back up today and I'm so glad I did. Bel and Teo are really great characters--both together and individually. I do think that Teo got slightly the short end of the stick in terms of a end of the book ~revelation~, so to speak, but this story was always a bit more Bel's than Teo's and I still love how things ended. The overall message is so great and, although I wish I had this book when I was in high school, I'm so glad there will be other high schoolers out there who do and can get something from it.
Idk, this book kind of made me all mushy and maudlin. But I'm happy and Bel is a character who just really resonated with me, so I'm glad she exists.
