Black Rabbit Hall by Eve Chase

I liked Black Rabbit Hall, but it took me awhile to really appreciate it and get into the story.

The story unfolded in a very well designed way, changing between the past and present in points of view (teen Amber in the late 1960s and adult Lorna in the present). There are enough teasers set in the present that keep you reading to find out what happened in the past.

However, the supporting cast was entirely static. There is no change or learning on their part. I wanted to see a better resolution than the one that we had. I wanted redemption for a few characters and didn't get to see that.

The entirely happy ending was just too much for the gothic, dark story that had been told.
