The Lucky Dog Matchmaking Service by Beth Kendrick

2.0

Disappointing. The synopsis on the back is not an accurate description of what happens. The book is not a deliciously frothy chick lit sprinkled with puppies. Instead it's a meandering tale of a woman dealing with her family issues. With the exception of her mother, there is little to no character growth and the storyline about her father was completely unnecessary. The best friend was strange since the author sort of gave her a story arc with a potentially absent husband but then never resolved it. (Because, hey, as long as she's not overwhelmed by her newborn, everything's cool right? Whatever.) The attempt at a love story was painfully disappointing as well. Despite worrying about being "homeless", the main character was never in any real danger of anything. Everything she ends up with falls into her lap.
