my thoughts on this book are v much conflicting
on one hand, the amount that is IN this book is amazing. if i was in uni i’d absolutely delve into it for an essay and enjoy doing it v much. i also really did enjoy the character of destiny and her relationship with her mother and her country.
on the other, im not sure i actually Enjoyed reading it sometimes? it was so densely political for so long at the start, and destiny doesn’t appear until over 100 pages in, that i was genuinely wondering how it was going to even work as a novel for a while. also, i did actually enjoy the fact that they’re all animals and i do think it adds a lot that couldn’t be done with humans - but at some points it felt at odds with what was being said and really pulled me out of the story.
