jesus fucking christ?????? looking back and considering how much i actually kinda loved my year of rest and relaxation, i thought i would love death in her hands by moshfegh. unhinged girlboss books are my forte after all - but god, (or Ghod) i hated this. i was counting down pages until the ending just hoping it would pick up somewhere and i just got so bored. yes, it was a slow burn, but not the good kind. literally nothing fucking happened. like at all. the commentary was quite nice but not really up my ally. i can’t deny moshfegh’s impeccable talent though, i can tell why people are die-hard fans. oh, and talk about an unreliable narrator!!!! i actually loved that aspect, i thought it was so interesting to read a novel with 90% of it being the internal monologue of an elderly woman and her slow, yet well deserved, descent into madness. anyway, so much more could have been given but it just was not giving </3
