Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
3.0
reflective sad slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

First half: wild, gay, drunk -- intriguing.

Second half: repressed, heterosexual, Catholic -- dull.

Not entirely sure what Waugh was aiming for with all the homoeroticism in this one. Truly the "First, make a gay little man. Then, give him a problem" school of plotting.

But even when bored I can't help but admire the striving thrust of Waugh's sentences.
