I rated the first book in this series 5 stars and this one is also a complete home run for me.
The first book is a very sweet romance between Mariel and Ozroth.
This book however; is a fiery/angsty whirlwind romance with a lot more spice.
This book was loaded with humor, tension, and very emotional journey of the main characters.
If you have a tenuous relationship with your mother, buckle up because this book hits home for mother/daughter dynamics. It also touches on an emotionally abusive ex of Calladia's in a way that I feel a lot of people could relate to. Calladia is constantly told her entire life she is too loud, too much, and that she needs to change; but Astaroth doesn't agree. He adores her fiery spirit and matches it with witty banter and determination to win her over after being the villain in the first book.
I loved their dynamic and sentimental moments as much as I enjoyed their humor and constant jabs at each other.
I will say the author does like to run off on tangents of weird information on irrelevant things but if you can space that out you'll really enjoy this series.
There is a third one coming out in September and I've already per-ordered it. I cannot wait to get back to this authors writing and see what the next story brings.
