The Heart Principle
by Helen Hoang
DID NOT FINISH
Depressingly heterosexual in a way that feels almost dystopian, as if the book is saying that a woman must first suffer through someone who doesn’t know how to be with her in order to deserve someone better, and of course the only way to be happier is to be with another person, no thought of whether she might be better off on her own. This main character would be better suited to an arc where she learns to prioritize herself without jumping into a relationship and being talked into the very idea of putting herself first. The book’s covering of her autism also feels very base level to an autistic person to a point that it feels almost condescending.
