 September Book Club Read

Long Story Short: In the Scottish Highlands, biologist Inti Flynn hasn't made any friends by reintroducing wolves to the community in the name of conservation. When a farmer is reported missing, Inti goes to great lengths to protect the wolves, the community, her twin sister, and herself.

Ultimately, this is a book about destruction and the effort it takes to rebuild. It's hard to say I "liked" something so violent, but the social commentary, the parallels of wolf vs. man, and the extremism from many of the characters were very clever. I haven't stopped thinking about not only the book itself, but my reaction to and beliefs about its message.

CW: domestic violence, rape, animal death

Enjoyment: 4/5
