The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey by Trenton Lee Stewart

5.0

One year after their last adventure Reynie, Sticky, Kate and Constance are reunited again for another adventure. But this goes not as planned, which leads The Mysterious Benedict Society to a even greater and more dangerous adventure!

I loved the sequel as much as I loved the first novel. There was humor, friendship, adventure, riddles, adorable heroes and nasty villains.

The children grew over the course of these two books and I'm excited to see how their characters and relationships will develop in the last installment.

What I found most remarkable were the Ten Men. Their weapons consisted of deadly modified office supplies. I just thought that this was such a cool and fun idea!

The adventure itself was fast-paced and took the children half across the globe and I was eager to find out more clues and see how their journey develops
Spoilerand if they will succeed in finding Mr. Benedict
.

The illustrations were as wonderful as in the first book, although the artist had changed from Carson Ellis to Diana Sudyka. I found that Diana Sudyka did a great job in illustrating the chapters. I especially liked the illustrations of the chapters 'Bullfrogs, Pirates and Technical Difficulties' and 'Dusk Before Sundown'.

I hope to get to the last book of the trilogy quite soon, although I'm dreading the series to end. It just is one of the greatest middle grade books that I have read so far.
