A breezy overview of 20 years of internet history. In part, it's so general and breezy because charting a history of the social internet is a gargantuan task. It's also breezy because Lorenz is very impersonal and often uncritical of the subject. I don't know what her point of view is about the history of the social internet (Is it good? is it bad?) though I do know the viewpoints of many people who participated in the creation of the social internet. And for the many creators she references that I am not personally familiar with (David Dobrik, Josh Richards, for example) I don't get any idea from Taylor exactly what made these Internet personalities such huge hits.
