Symphony of Secrets by Brendan Slocumb
4.0

I love how Brendan Slocumb weaves themes of injustice, greed, and racism (past and present) with beautiful threads of musical artistry to create a compelling mystery. The alternating timelines between present day and the 1920s worked well, and I enjoyed Bern’s and Eboni’s slow uncovering of the truth around Josephine and Freddy.

Even if the last quarter of the book required a suspension of disbelief as all the pieces fell into place, it was a great story. Slocumb’s note at the end added valuable context.
