You Can't Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain by Phoebe Robinson

3.0

Hilarious (I found myself laughing out loud in public a few times), important, relevant, and entertaining. A great read for gen Y's! Especially those who aren't paying attention to the issues WoC/PoC are STILL facing today. Aside from the obvious, relevant social issues addressed in the book, Robinson is also just so good at pointing out the obvious in such a sarcastic/satirical tone, I love her for it. See below:

"Remember when the movie Garden State came out, and people were charmed by it, they were like 'ooooh, Zach Braff's button down shirt matches the wallpaper he's standing in front of' and 'wooooow Natalie Portman is wearing braided pigtails, and even though she's soooo pretty, she makes ugly/goofy faces to show how much she's a free spirit, I mean she can go from looking like a 10 to a 9.378 because she just don't give a damnnn!'. Then a shift happened and everyone was like 'this movie is bullshit, all of these people are annoying, now I have all of these CD's by The Shins.. Da Fuq?"
