I loved this book because I loved Stevie as a character. And Cordelia too. It does Stevie's story justice and we get to meet some familiar faces in an organic way (unlike in subsequent books where they feel forced in just for the sake of it)
It would be difficult to read as a standalone, but it does wrap up plot points from the other books well as well as introducing a memorable new set of villains.
