A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf

5.0

Virginia Woolf was so ahead of her time.
This book is an edited essay based on series of speeches she delivered in two women colleges in England. This book will shake you, wake you, teach you and guide you as a women in your life.
It was amazing to read her perspective on woman and fiction. She draws many examples, shows us some comparison and deliberately displays how 'a woman must have money and room of her own if she is to write fiction'. When i first read that quote i kinda have mixed feeling about it but after reading this book i got to know how truly applicable her principle is to every women. She doesn't only emphasize on money and privacy but also addresses more pressing and subtle issues. Such a informative and empowering read.
As she said " For masterpieces are not single and solitary births; they are the outcome of many years of thinking in common, of thinking by the body of the people, so that the experience of the mass is behind the single voice.” And I truly believe this is a brilliant MASTERPIECE.
