“I was a guide to the lost souls and the patron sinner of the recently dead.”

I really liked this book. I thought that the mystery was interesting and unexpected. I liked Daisy a lot and thought that the paranormal aspect was really well thought out. However, it definitely read a lot like a ya book (which yes I understand it is). Way too many pop culture references. Also, we jumped through so many fucking hoops to make it work that she s 17. Like??? Just make her an adult? She’s in college, lives on her own, is a consultant for the fbi, has romantic ish interactions/relationships with much older guys. Like we have a whole joke about her being “jailbait”. It doesn’t make sense for her to be underage. Like just make her 18?? Or older college aged. Literally it would’ve removed so much useless explanation (like that she’s emancipated, her birthday is in 3 months, etc). Just make her an adult??? It can still by ya if she’s 18.
