The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

5.0

A perfect marriage between the clever calm charm of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple and the slightly off, mostly funny but ultimately sad slick romp of Ricky Gervais’s After Life.

“The sun is up, the sky is blue, and murder is in the air”

“‘So, we were all witnesses to a murder,’ says Elizabeth. ‘Which, needless to say, is wonderful.’”

“Ibrahim says, ‘And, as it must have been administered very shortly before his death, then we are all suspects in his murder.’ Joyce claps her hands. ‘Splendid. I’m not sure how any of us would have got hold of fentanyl, but splendid.’ She is arranging Viennese whirls on a commemorative Prince Andrew-Sarah Ferguson wedding plate that Joanna had assumed she would like many years ago.”
