I enjoyed it.
I totally get everyone pointing to Four Psychos - there are definite similarities. But I think ... as someone who enjoys UF and fantasy, there are just so many similarities across books in the genre that as long as I enjoy the story and the author makes it their own, I don't generally let it bother me. I mean, I can't tell you how many UF stories I've read that are derivative of Kate Daniels.
Has the author made it her own? Well, so far I think so ... but it's hard to say until the whole plot unwinds and we can look at all the details. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt at this point.
