  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated

strong 4 stars!!!
enjoyable, and SHOCKINGLY actually quite an easy read (possibly maybe because of watching the films first... which I may even prefer to the book). fun exploration of religion and politics and environmentalism (given it's their 3 loves combined, can see why it's a certain someone's favourite book), and excited to read the next one. less excited by all women being defined through their sexual relationship to men when it is set EIGHT THOUSAND years in the future, and the only queer character also being the most evil villain, with that queerness utilised in a very disturbing way. bit lame frank. though generally did feel like very modern writing and far more complex and developed than other sci fi released later (cough cough star wars)
