I found the first book really hard going. Every second person was called Thomas. That didn't help. Plus the annoying writing style where the word "he" was used regularly to refer to Thomas Cromwell and you were just supposed to know that. I enjoyed this book more because I was ready for the use of "he" all the time plus I found the story more enjoyable. The downfall of Anne Boleyn. I have to admit, Mantel writes very well too. I now strangely find myself looking forward to the next book in the trilogy.
