3.5 stars. A fun magical romp through a side character’s backstory. I kind of feel like I didn’t understand some of it (I was listening to the audio while cleaning) but I feel like anything important will probably be explained in the main series. Overall I enjoyed getting to know Ryber and The Rook and Kullen better since they were just side characters in the first book and not really present in the second.
