I am a fantasy reader, I’ve read many fantasy books….but this one was quite an experience. From the magic system to the book structure and writing, it was different from everything I’ve read before. Yet, it did take me a around 20 % of the book to become fully situated with the plot and the worldbuilding, and still... I never really felt immersed in the book. None of the characters really stood out to me, and the magic system…very different, but it did not really captivate me. I did find the society very interesting, I am going to continue with the series because I really want to know how the everything will play out and I'm also still curious about certain aspects of the world. But I guess it just wasn't exactly my type of fantasy story.
Overall, it just wasn’t the earthshattering experience (pun intended) that I expected, based on other peoples’ reviews.
