I’ve read this book about three times and learned something different about the characters each time. The first time I read it was in college in an English class and we really focused on the “working man” stigma but as I read it on my own I was able to focus on the other characters, especially the younger sister. It’s not my favorite book but still very interesting nonetheless. I often feel bad for Gregor’s family, but not bad enough to justify the way the parents treat him. The fact that I can keep reading such an old book that is still relatable to today’s ideology around working and making money being the only way to provide purpose to someone’s life is pretty crazy…
