The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

4.0

I just love this piece of schlock. Actually it's not really schlock, but it is schlock-adjacent, but with tantalizing stuff -- a stand-in for the Museum of Natural History, the fascinating history of cabinets of curiosity, medical history shenanigans, all manner of gross stuff. And there's lots of NYC history, another love of mine. The Pendergast series gets super repetitive and dumb later on-- but for a weird kind-of-police-procedural-for-the-batshit-crazy, this one is my favorite and lots of fun.
