This book has everything. I read the premise and some reviews and thought this would be a fun addition to my tbr, but oh buddy did I underestimate this absolutely genius book. Found family, non verbal representation, queer love, stunning and imaginative scifi that doesn't feel like other works, a plot that moves but doesn't have outrageous stakes, a tight and tidy storyline that references side stories but never goes too far off track, SASS, deep and heartfelt and poignant conversations, a truly breathtaking art style that is incredibly clever and smart with how it uses color and shape to convey time and place. This book is all this and more. The first graphic novel that I felt would have been truly less of a novel had it just been written, and would absolutely not be done justice as a wholey visual art. This piece masterfully uses all the tools of the craft to convey a story that is meaningful and true and easy to connect with. You simply have to read this.
