The Last Goodbye
by Fiona Lucas
“Life isn’t always easy… Things happen… Things you couldn’t have predicted. And when they do, it can throw you, turn you upside down and your life takes a very different path.”
Anna knows very well that life isn’t easy. In fact, three years ago she found that out the hard way when she lost her husband in a tragic accident. For three years, Anna has just been surviving, managing to get from one day to the next without actually living. Then, New Years Eve comes and everything changes… she calls her husbands number and someone answers the phone… Anna soon discovers that the stranger on the phone has his own secrets and demons to deal with…
The Last Goodbye is a beautifully written novel by Fiona Lucas, that centres around a two different journeys of self-discovery, whilst dealing with crippling grief, guilt and regret.
Fiona Lucas has managed to make you feel like you are on the journey with the two main characters, living their lives with them. You feel everything that they feel - the happiness, the sadness, the panic attacks, the overwhelming sense of guilt… This book is an emotional rollercoaster, but one I can guarantee you will enjoy.
If you want an emotional, heart-breaking yet also heart-warming read, with an underlying message of ‘forgiving yourself is key to being able to move forward’ then this is your next book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
