This is only the second book ever that I've finished, and immediately wanted to go back and start again. My Friends is just utterly incredible.

It has all the emotions, literally. And triggers - please seek out content warnings because this has them all. But Backman handles them with sensitivity and, inexplicably, with humour (often fart jokes, let's be honest). I so needed that release of laughter just to get through whatever was coming next, and it made me love every moment more. I cried with despair, I laughed out of sheer relief, then I cried with joy. Over and over again.

Brimming with vulnerability, heart, beautiful characters and the most amazing discussions of art and love that I've ever read. A complete masterpiece.
