The story was dark yet lighthearted at the same time. The themes and games were definitely violent, but I never found the gore descriptions to be too unsettling or overbearing. There was a good balance of high-stakes tension mixed in with the romance. Genevieve's confidence and cunning was also a refreshing change of pace from your typical romantasy FL!
