Dim Sum Asylum
by Rhys Ford
I absolutely loved this book, and largely for the world-building. Ford blends the supernatural into the every day in a convincing adrenaline rush. The plot takes intriguing twists, and the characters stand out as individuals. It's a wonderful reminder that tropes are not a bad thing and can be played upon to surprise the reader.
Also, there is world-building in the sex scene. Like I'm still in awe of the skill. It's one of the best I've read.
