Thirty and a Half Excuses by Denise Grover Swank

5.0

This is the third book to the Rose Gardner Mysteries by Denise Grover Swank. This series keeps getting better and better! This book starts out with the opening of Rose and Violets new nursery – The Gardner Sister’s Nursery. At the opening of the nursery comes their first big client – Jonah Pruitt, who’s the new televangelist in Henryetta. With the help of Bruce Wayne and David, Rose makes the new church look spectacular, which is good for business. Along with the opening of the nursery, some suspicious things start happening around Henryetta, specifically the passing of two elderly ladies, who had their A/C’s turned off and window’s closed in the middle of a record high heat wave. Rose sees this as strange and starts investigating, thinking it all links up with the new televangelist. It does, but not in the way you suspect!
Along with this, Joe is on an undercover mission and can’t talk to him as much as she’d like. So she starts to become friends with Mason. She finds out that Mason and Joe had a history back in Little Rock, and she’s desperate to find out what happened. Joe tells her, and she feels bad for both of the men involved. In finding out what happened, she gets closer to Mason. Joe’s parents are also getting on him more about meeting Rose, much to both of their dismay. As I said, this series keeps getting better and better! I will warn you, I’ve just read this series for the third time, and I still needed tissues for the ending of this one, so be prepared!
