Ok I'm sorry but I loved this book so much. In fact, I'm not even sorry. I have said MANY times that I have no interest in mafia romances bc I don't find the idea of a MC who does violence to others as a matter of course. And then along comes Connor "Mad" Rogan (I know), insane billion murder mage boyfriend, and I'm like "I love that man."
But in all seriousness, the first person POV is so well crafted here. Nevada Baylor has a strong whiff of Veronica Mars and I really love that about her - she is smart, capable, and unwilling to submit to anyone, especially not to a man who she feels certain she cannot trust despite how much chemistry they have. The overall plot, world building, and mystery was so compelling that I didn't even care it took more than 25% of the book to get the two MCs on page together. I fully loved everything about this book, and I can't wait to read the rest of series.
