I really wanted to like this book and I even finished it just incase it got better, but sadly other than the one moment at the 85% mark when some big reveals happen I was bored.

This book is a great example of the opposite of “show don’t tell” it really needed a good editor to condense the over explanations by 300 pages. It was just dragging on and on with nothing happening and that’s what was making me zone out and get bored. I really think if this was reworked into a 400pg book it would’ve been so much more captivating.

Sadly the ending did not leave me excited for what’s next, as everything was wrapped up in a nice bow and no cliff hanger or exciting “what’s going to happen next”.

This is not the outcome I wanted for this book, after all the hype and love I saw I was really hoping for an exciting addictive fantasy read but that didn’t happen, maybe it’s partly due to the over hype it made it feel more of a let down but I really think shorting by at least 200pages would’ve made it so much better.

Side note I can never guess plots to murder mysteries but you can bet I guessed 90% of the plot twists here
