The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun
5.0
My fucking god. This is the first book I have read with like, actual explicit asexual representation (not only with a main character but also side characters!) and like, casually so many people of different identities not only within the LGBTQIA+ community but like, cultures and upbringings at large. Just bloody magnificent.
I think this is competing with Empire of Gold to be the book I cried the most while reading, although this was more of a tap turning on and off every few pages while Empire of Gold was just turned on and left running for a third of the page count. Anyways, that to say that this book ilicited every emotion and reaction from me in a rollercoaster I could not have predicted and simply adored.
In terms of actually talking about the book, I have so little to say other than just gods please read this! The characters are so fleshed out and the way Charlie and Dev interpret the world in their perspectives is just incredible, oh my god and the bits of transcript with notes at the end of the parts were just immaculate methods of characterisation and storytelling my gosH.
