June Hayward has long been friends with famed author Athena Liu since meeting in college. Well, friends is a loose term given they have drinks once a quarter… but when Athena dies after finishing a first draft of her latest novel and June finds it and completes the book… who has full claims to the book? Besides given the book is about a Chinese Labour Camp, publishing under the name Juniper Song makes way more sense even if it helps make her seem racially ambiguous. And what happens next is everyone’s fault.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It had me genuinely laugh out loud more than once! And the villain MC?? Superb! A wonderfully clever story looking at the current publishing world and white views on the world. This was everything I never knew I wanted in a book!
