The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
4.0

I am half way through The Iron King and i gotta say, The Immortal Rules is much MUCH better. I'm considering just giving up The Iron King because it is boring me that much...

Anyway, this review is for The Immortal Rules so i'll stop waffling. The main difference between the Immortal Rules and The Iron King is the characters. Allie is a super bad-ass whereas Meghan cries every chance she gets. For some reason, i stereotyped strong, hard-ass characters like Allie to be vain. Normally, when i read a book with a strong character they always tend to care about their looks and how pretty they are. Just like the main character from the Throne Of Glass by Sarah J.Maas. Very VERY vain. But, although Allie is a strong character, she never commented on her looks. So i have come to the conclusion that i like her. :)

But, there were faults in this book. The first 202 pages precisely were amazing! No complaint there. But after that, things just started to feel unrealistic. Like Zeke and Allie's relationship. I know other reviewers have said that romance is not the main theme but the little romance that was there just didn't do it for me. It didn't give me tingles or butterflies when they were near to eachother and there was also no tension. A book that i think creates tension between two characters well is the Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick. Now when they were near to each other, i blushed. I actually blushed! And you'd think that with a world overrun by Vamps and Rabids there would be more sexual tension going on. Gah! Look at that. I sound like a right diva! And another thing. Zeke was too good. Yes, it is okay and good to be good but he just took it too far. There is a line between normal good and over the top good. And he my friend, was over the top good. Which means he was unrealistic to me. Also, another thing that really annoyed me was that Allie always spoke to herself, and if you've read the book then you know about that particular scene in the barn. I wanted Allie's secret revelation to be better than that!!

Actually, i'm going to contradict myself here. Kanin, hot, mysterious, TALL Kanin did give me butterflies. This book would've totally got 5 stars if they hooked up. Siggghhh...

Another reason why this book didn't get 5 stars was because there were no totally breath taking, sweat inducing twists to the plot. Everything was forward and no revelations were in the story. When i read a book, i LOVE for it to have twists and turns that leave you thinking 'well, i did NOT see that coming' and then you try to move your eyes a hundred miles an hour to devour the rest of the book. I know it seems like i didn't like this book and that i had alot to pick on about but it's a nice book with cool characters. I just wish Kanin was in the book more and that i could cuddle Caleb. I loved that Kid. He was soo cute and snuggly. And if we're talking about wishes, i also wish that i could cuddle Kanin. Grrrrr...
