I found this book to be written in the style of what seems to be a long run on sentence. The author just seemed to ramble when telling the story. For the first whole quarter of the book, there was a lot of backstory that led to a predictable plot point. The characters themselves were not bad, and neither was the plot, but unfortunately the execution of both was subpar at best. Hopefully the movie is better.

there were multiple times when men kissed Cassie in the book when she specifically told them not to or in a obscure situation, and the author played it out as if they were just madly in love with her. It was definitely not consensual, and furthermore seemed forced into the story just so they could say there was romance.<\spoiler>
