This book reads more like a marketing strategy than a story, seemingly designed to cash in on Swiftie devotion. Rather than portraying Taylor Swift with any nuance, it offers a cartoonish version of her, who is extremely unlikable.

The writing desperately wants to be profound, but it’s weighed down by a relentless stream of clunky musical metaphors. Every other sentence sounds like it’s auditioning for a lyric, and not a particularly good one.
