Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score

Did not finish book.
DNF @ 55%

My first book by Lucy Score and it's safe to say her writing style is not for me. I don't even know why I slogged on this far when I had started skimming around the 40% mark.

I had to constantly remind myself that Sloane and Lucian are actually 40 years old and not 15. The 'hate'-banter is so juvenile and bland that I was scared my eyes would get stuck on the roof permanently. I can roll with the plot of 'he/she infuriates me so much I lose control' but the constant bickering and trash talk and behaving like teenagers(I'm not sure if I was this annoying as a teenager) truly tried my patience.

Probably should've led with this but this is a 500-page book that's almost 200 pages too long. Even without finishing, I can tell the story could've been wrapped up much sooner and that's going by how slow and tedious every chapter is. The mob storyline did nothing to intrigue me either and when I perused the steamy scenes the way I go through self-help books, I knew it's time to quit.

I usually don't rate books I abandon midway, but the stars are for Simon Walton, the kind of man everyone deserves in their life.
