i really liked this one till i didnt.
went into it completely blind and found out half way through that this author also wrote the red mars trilogy, a series i dnf'd in the like 3 chapter of the 1st book. robinson is (then and now) trying to make a point about climate change and how it is something you cannot untaggle from racism, but he gets a little racist w it in the process. he clearly picked up some sensitivity readers in the 20 years between the series as this book is better than red mars, but hes still got some issues to work through. hes also got a huge misogyny problem. like ohboy did i fucking hate how he wrote amelia.
writing wise, loved the set up of the novel. couldve x'd the last couple of chapters. unnecessary info that just kinda dragged on.
also wayyyy too optimistic about the state for my taste. he quoted emma goldman for god's sake.
