An Echo in the Sorrow by Hailey Turner

5.0

An Echo in the Sorrow by Hailey Turner is the sixth book in the Soulbound series. Echo picks up after the events in London and Paris with Patrick on desk duty at the SOA and Jono and his New York City god pack fighting a civil war throughout the five boroughs. The two sides of Patrick's life collide when an item he is investigating on behalf of the SOA is found in a dead enemy of his god pack. Patrick is accused of the murder and while the investigation continues he finds himself being pulled away from his pack and family and into the games of yet another group of gods. Jono continues to fight for Patrick's freedom while trying to bring the fight for New York City to close for good. With demons running rampant and old enemies coming back to NYC will Patrick and Jono be able to survive another round or have the fates finally decided on who wins this ongoing war?

Patrick is finally unable to keep his private life as co-alpha of the NYC god pack from his work with the SOA. He had been working on borrowed time from the beginning since he regularly used his work position to his benefit when dealing with pack business as well as hiding the soulbond with Jono. Time has finally run out and Patrick's entire past which has been hidden is brought to the forefront. He has Jono as well as the rest of his friends, pack and allies support which is probably the only reason he is able to handle everything thrown at him in this book. While the romance between himself and Jono has always been an aspect of the story but not at the forefront I feel like this is even more apparent in this book where Patrick and Jono get their moments but everything else takes priority. You don't feel like you're missing out because their relationship continues to strengthen and you love them even more.

"You want me."
"Yes, but there are some days you're so bloody stubborn I think about murder. It'd be purely out of love though."

Jono is finally faced with issues that have been ongoing over the last year since fate thrust him into Patrick's life and their pack was born. He's ready to take over NYC and bring a new reign for werecreatures as the co-alpha of the god pack. Patrick's arrest and the gods intervention force Jono to deal with something he's never truly contemplated - losing Patrick. Their soul bond connects them but Jono's love for him is an entirely different and more powerful force. Being Patrick's partner continues to be difficult and the events of this book further that but at no point do you see their affections waver, they will always be each other's calm in the storm.

"He didn't say anything, but the quiet metronome of his heartbeat and the way his scent spiked was an answer in and of itself. Jono knew that Patrick would keep his promise and always come back to him."

Hailey Turner pulled no punches in this book and although she warned us (if you creep her social media - Me! Me! I do that!) that Patrick's actions have consequences and man was that the truth. She manages to keep that humor you've come to expect in these books especially with Wade who is just *SIGH* the best. Sage continues to be a complete boss keeping all the fools she loves from running amok and getting themselves killed while planning a wedding.

"You're why I'm getting gray hairs in my thirties."
"It makes you look distinguished."
"It makes me want to strangle you."

5 stars for a series that continues to make you laugh, clutch your chest and warm your heart as Jono and Patrick march towards all out war and hopefully their HEA.
