The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop

adventurous emotional funny inspiring

4.0

I started this book hoping for a little bit of behind the scenes Gilmore drama and maybe some cool tidbits about this actress. I never expected to be introduced to a brilliant, complicated woman that sounds like a person I would like to hang out with.

When she opened this book talking about this time when she got a call about a thing with a bunch of other chorus dancers sitting around talking about their experiences and hopes and dreams, I almost lost it realizing what she was talking about. Emily Gilmore is the origin story of Sheila. She is At The Ballet.

And, stunningly, she is a damned good writer. Using the lyrics of At The Ballet to transition into the chronological tale of her life was beautifully done. The honesty of the way she relays the story of her life; the good, the bad and everything in between. If you love theater or Gilmore Girls, I highly recommend hanging out with Kelly Bishop for a while.
